Hyosung Privateer Racer Support Program

Hyosung Motorcycles
Korider members have been following Hyosung and UM privateers for the last few years now and it has been very exciting to see thier success.  These guys are racing against some tough competition and doing very well.  Newbymick had a great idea to set up a donation program to help them out.  Brad and Matt are racing with money out of thier own pockets so They were very excited to see Korider members rally behind the idea.

The amount you donate is up to you. Each person who donates $10 or more gets a korider sticker from Matt and EP Racing. To donate, simply click the donate button under the racers name who you would like to support. Thanks for your help!

Matt Kellerman, #63 of EP Racing

Matt rides a Hyosung GT650R in the CCS Southwest Series.  In 2007 he finished 2nd in Thunder Bike Series and 3rd in Lightweight Superbike.   What will 2008 hold? Great things we think. You can read up on Matt's 2006 and 2007 season here.  Matt is a long time member of korider and posts under the name hyosung.biz.

Brad Pitman-Armstrong, #426 of CCM Mechanics

In 2007 Brad finished 1st in the Lightweight Twin SS Expert Class of the WERA West Series.  Brad had a rough start to the 2008 season after flatting the front tire at 135 mph.  Luckly he and the bike were mostly intact and he was ready to race Formula 2 late that day.  Rather than settling for zero points he finished 6th after toughing it out a broken hand.  Brad posts on Korider under the name BradCCM.

Guess the HP At Time of Explosion! | Screaming Demon Pipe Giveaway

Hyosung Motorcycles

If you hang out on Korider you know Screaming Demon exhaust.  No, I don't have a link to thier website.  They don't have a website, yet.  They have been too busy building pipes and showing thier customers excellent customer service

Well now screamingdemon is holding a contest to see who can come closest to guessing the maximum horsepower that can be achieved by combining a GT250 engine with a can of NOS. Max HP will be measured at time of explosion of... who knows. Maybe that guess should be the consolation prize.

To the winner goes a Screaming Demon Carbon Fibre Racing Pipe of winners choice (250 or 650). Deadline for posting your entry is the end of February some time. Please see screamingdemon's exhaust giveaway post for more information.

BTW, Screaming Demon is also looking for help designing thier logo.

GV650 SSR Project by FITH Gear Customs

Hyosung MotorcyclesIf you follow Hyosung and UM motorcycles discussion groups you have heard of FITH Gear Customs. This company build affordable aftermarket performance parts for Hyosung machines. They also managed to make shorten the word "fifth" and have is sound exactly the same. Now that is efficiency and performance!

All joking aside, Dave (AmishCrackDealer) just completed a custom GV650 / GT650 fusion bike which will be displayed at the 2008 Cycle World International Motorcycle show in Atlanta. For more information on the SSR Custom check out the FITH Gear Customs SSR Timeline. You can also leave Dave some feedback in his SSR Discussion he posted on korider. I'm sure he would love to get your input.

2008 Hyosung Line-up

Hyosung MotorcyclesThe 2008 line up is looking great for Hyosung. Three new models were announced for 2008. The GT650X was not news to korider but it is sure to take many motorcycle enthusiasts by surprise. It has a street fighter look and sharp lines. The technology is also a step up over current 650 Hyos. The 650X has radial mounted brakes and a stiffer frame and swing arm than the GT's. As with all 650 machines it has fuel injection which improved power and fuel efficiency.

I have to say Hyosung did a fantastic job keeping the RX450SM quiet until the Milan show. If any pictures leaked korider members would have found them. We are glad they didn't because seeing the 450 supermoto was like waking up on Christmas morning to a stack of presents. This bike has the motorcycle media convinced Hyosung will continue to innovate and keep up with motorcycle trends. All I can say is I want one and I am not the only one. There were so many posts about it Boosty put together an official rx450sm info thread to keep it all in one place.

Last but not least was the sx125 scooter. It has large 16" wheels that should do well on rough city streets and it has great amount of storage space. It is a sharp looking scooter and a great addition to the line up. You can read more about it here.

If you want more information about these bikes be sure to visit your local dealer or drop into the korider forums and chat with the Hyosung riders.

Hyosung Sales Up 116%

Hyosung MotorcyclesAustralian Hyosung sales were up 116% for the first half of 2007 versus the first half of 2006. Sales volume was considerably higher than the rest of the manufacturers in the top 10 for increased sales. They are also in the top 10 for overall sales passing BMW and Polaris for total units sold. How long will it take for them to pass KTM (up 11%) and Harley (up 35%)? If this trend keeps up, I would say 6 months. Let us know what you think.
