Hydraulic Clutch kit??
« on: January 19, 2010, 02:08:15 AM »

Ok next little change on my bike is to get rid of the clutch cable.

Has anyone seen a generic Hydraulic Clutch kit for this, that seems good value?

Hydraulic Clutch are not allowed on racing bikes.

What year was that !!??  ;D ;D

1. Its my road bike.

2. If that is such a rule I think there's a few folk have broken it!  ;D ;D ;D

3. I have several race bikes with hydraulic clutches. Though they are not raced anymore they are still ready.

I just thought ...... maybe the syntax of my descriptor must be confusing ......

what I mean is a Hydraulically activated clutch. Lever with master cylinder, oild pressure activates a little slave which activates the clutch pull.

eg:  http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-YZ-426-WR-250-F-MAGURA-HYDRAULIC-CLUTCH_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5638d1d189QQitemZ370320462217QQptZMotorcyclesQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories

What is the hydraulic clutch you mean? an automatic clutch using hydraulics to drive? Is that what you mean?

Edit: I just looked at my original post and I did say replaces the clutch cable!!!  :-\

you are confusing me Mike!! what are you on about??  ???  sure;y they don't ban hydraulic clutch activation in the US!!??  :o

Hydraulic Clutch are not allowed on racing bikes.

Do you know why? That seems strange to me  ???

At least your allowed to have them on street bikes. Why do you want one HW?

Mainly cos thats what I'm used to ( though on thehydraulic clutched bikes I have its mostly one finger clutch .... I'm getting older and lazier so the 2 fingers Hyo clutching is getting a tad dated for me ) , so when I got the Hyo its antiquated cable system seemed quaint  ;D ;D ;D , but to be updated some day ..... that day is nigh for me  ;D ;D

Or do you mean why would I pick a hydraulic system over cable?

Hydraulic ........

just so easy

just so definite

just never need adjustment

I am told that hydraulic clutches where banned as they can reduce the feel and power required to pull and hold the clutch.

When the Hyosung Clutch is adjusted correctly you can pull it with one finger easily and hold it as well.

I understand the new two clutch system is used on the new "auto shift" Honda, it is computer controlled, you don't have to do anything, it does it all, very simple. :'(

Has a 'fly by wire' hand lever to make you feel in control.

Well I normally ride 1 finger clutch and brake.

The brake is fine 1 finger but the Hyo clutch is a tad heavy. I certainly would not like it in a race situation  :o

The 1098 and 749 are 1 finger clutch bikes ( and hydraulic clutch ) so I just want to get them the hyo nearer to that.

So what do guys do with 1098's there? it must be ridiculous ( $$$ and  >:( >:( >:( )  to retrofit a cable system to the clutch, would even need an engine case redesign  !!? :o

R1's? etc?

Laguna MGProunds?

All KTM riders?

I think whoever told you hydraulic clutches are banned wasnot fully up wth it  :-\  ;D ;D
