I have noticed that a lot simpler method have been applied to my bike. (2008 650 EFI, but I think this would work on others as well)

The hose that goes from the airfilterbox to the pump have been blocked off by a metal plug which simply stops the pump from delivering any air to the system. I don't know who have done this but it's either the dealer or the guy that installed a Rapidbike kit on the bike.

Eitherway it is worth to consider this solution due to the simpleness of it...

I did this to my bike a few months back and one tip I wanted to add was to check the torque on the block-off plate bolts after a few hundred miles. Mine loosened up after it heat cycled a few times and it developed a small exhaust leak. Once I tightened it back down it has stayed tight.

Just finished up, the new gaskets secured the collector so i could get the rest bolted up. Whn i had the LC jet kit, it had  a ball bearingthe blocked the hose between the two pumps. While a simple idea, i wanted to get rid of the clutter.  Will check the torque after a few weeks to make sure it is fine

Bikerpind,
I did similar but I just got a piece of tube and joined the two outlets in the airbox with they lead to, havn't had a problem since either.
Sounds awesome on run-off but I have noticed my bike isn't quite as loud under all running conditions

I wonder if my mechy would do this. The bike needs to go in for its first oil change and i want him to check out the bikes poor idling performance and all the rusting bolts :/ Try and get it under warranty lol.

I'm about to go from stock exhaust to a straight through and I'm thinking I will have a lot of decel popping, is this AIS block-off thing supposed to reduce air going into the engine during deceleration so less popping or something?  Also, mine is a 2011 gt650r, and I don't know if the computer adjusts for this after riding around a bit.

Great post very helpful..... Just a note for the 2008 GT650R comet we only have one AIS spent the better part of 10 minutes looking for the rear one that wasn't there haha!   ;D
