white flag, help
« on: August 21, 2010, 05:27:20 PM »

I know the scooter guys only reply in waves but I need help.  I've been searching the internet all morning looking for clutches for the 06 Rally.  I can't find squatt.  I even can't find the Moto Force clutch.
I'm pretty sure I screwed up the stock clutch trying to compress it to remove the clutch before I had the bright idea to read the manual and create a "special" tool to take it off.
The MRP clutch, MP-03537, 107MM came with rollers that I didn't want because I figured they were stock size which don't match the Polini variator I installed.
Now that I have the 39mm socket and a "special" tool taking everything off and on again will be very easy.

You're not kidding about the squat part.  I'm no mechanic, but I'm a pretty decent Internet gopher.  I figured you probably already ran all the possible search strings for "SF50,"  so I looked into "UM Xpeed" parts.

This one is out of stock, but it might give a useful part number. B-MO0621 (note the letter "O" and the number "0" next to each other, which is probably why the part is out of stock (i.e. lost))

Don't know what to say about this vague Ebay entry:

You guys know much more about this than I do, but I believe the engine on the SF50 is a Minarelli JOG, variants of which can be found in half a dozen different makes.  So there may be other possibilities beyond the UM brand name, or it may be possible to simply acquire an entire transmission for another brand of bike and graft that onto the original motor.  But I definitely don't know what I'm talking about.

Some really useful information in this post.  Decided that it needs a sticky

The engine is Morini but my concern was the transmission.  I'm going to take the MRP clutch back out and hopefully after market springs will work.  There is a U-tube from MRP for a UM scooter they installed green springs.  I was suprised they offered variator weights as opposed to spring selections.  I know my RPMs are low concidering still at 49cc.
I would be more than happy just to buy another performance clutch, If I could find one, and start from scratch.  The modified 39mm socket and "special tool" I made makes taking the clutch on and off real easy.  I just don't like being w/o the scooter during tear downs.
I'll post pictures as soon as possible.

Thanks for the info.  I just finished ordering.
I should go back and order some different spring colors.

This one has a cutch engagement adjustment that the original clutch hasn't. If you set it for a quick engagement with the right springs, it has a nice quick bite when starting off from a stop.
