Hi stigger, regarding the clutch plates, i havent done this myself, it was advised by my mech. Here, somewhere in 2006-2007, they have a 1 make race for the hyo, and all of the gt's were tricked out. He was involved int he race bike developments as well. Now, the thing I noticed form what he listed, the reason their 05's race bikes were reliable even when thrashed is, they have changed the valves, all with performance single piece valves, obviously the electrical were simplified as they have no needs for headlights, brake lights etc, front and rear shocks were re-worked, and other stuff to improve the handling. I am going to do the clutch plates once mine is worn out, thats going to be a while.

The sticky regarding charging system here is a must read. I think for efi model, charging issue will be more pronounced as they need to have a stable electrical system. It is better to recoil the stator with thicker wires as the OEM tend to burn, especially if you live in the 9-10K RPM most of the time. Not to back Hyo or whatsoever, in my experience with motorcycle, not one is free from electrical gremlins, I've seen an 08 ZX10 burn its rec/reg 1 week fresh out of the showroom, in 3 months, since November 2010, i've helped a few friends, all with electrical issue, an R1, a virago 250, a KSR110 .. Problem with bike is, the charging sytem itself, u need to have adequate charge at low revs, yet need to limit it at higher revs to prevent meltdown, cars have better luck with electrical, though i do agree, Hyo just haven't perfected their electrical yet. Something you need to DIY.

i will put my vote up when i get a few more kays up. i only have done 1000 kms so far ..as far as the electrickery is concerned i havent much faith in the reg/rec as it gets very hot and i think where it is placed isnt very well thought out ...as far as an overall opinion i like the bike  .  most bike manufactures are guilty of letting the customers do the quality control. early ducati  had horrible electrics, most early jappers didnt handle at all ( very dangerous ) the norton commando had  main bearing  failures as well as faulty conrods... and yet a lot of these bikes are considered "classics"

oh the memories !!! i bought a brand new honda cb900fc in 1983. when i left the shop to go  home ("dont go over 110kph /70mph'' i was told) i got to 100kph and the front end started to wobble as if to go into a full on tankslapper :o i took it back to the shop the next day and was told by the honda dealer " oh you need to put a fork brace on the front end cause with these new plastic front guards/fenders the forks tend to get a walking motion"...which i did as well as threw away the rear shocks and replaced with marzocchis @ an extra $350 >:(.... as well as the first thing you did was throw away the original bridgestone rubber( believe me bridgestone didnt have a reputation for making good motorcycle tyres back then) and replace with metzlers........ the hyosung handles well straight out of the box and has great rubber as stock equipement, so dont tell me about honda build quality :D :D

:D hi ol mago. i,ve always bought used bikes, many of them, therefore my expectations were,nt as high as when you buy a new bike, methinks.checked them over with my limited knoweldge at the time, all good.only one not so good was the previous bike,99 xj900s from a dealer.they loaded up the crankcase with a heavy oil? to quieten the cam chain.paid for it,''come back tommorrow,we,ll clean it up,check it over.''next day, mmmmm, sounds a bit rattley, must be cold. no,bad cam chain, never went back there,my bad luck.had it a year, traded on the 650S.i think even the dearest new bikes have some flaws. ican live with the hyo. cheers.

2010 GT650R here. Havn't had a problem with it since i've had it. Although, my battery lasted me a good 6-8 months before it just didn't want to hold charge. Got a new one and havn't had a problem since.
