Hello,
I'm new to this forum and would love some feedback. I have recently come across a 2005 gt650r (black) with 2600 miles on it for what seems to be a fair price. ( not sure of  the VIN) My question is how explody is explody. Are the common problems with these bikes repairable or is it a case of spending good money after bad. I currently ride a KLR so I am well versed in fixing problems that should have been addressed at the factory. (ie. the Doohickey ) My KLR experience has also taught me that sometimes a bike is lovable well beyond it's faults. Thanks in advance for any input you might have. Cheers

I wouldn't touch a 05. Unless it was very cheap.

Thanks for the reply. The plot thickens. It turns out that this bike has already blown up. (explody as heck I'd say) The first motor went after only 400 miles. It was then replaced under warranty by Hyosung with a 2007 motor and the warranty was restarted at that point. Interesting... You're right, it'll have to be cheap. Thanks again. Cheers

An 07 should be out if the explody range.

That said it would still need to be cheap.

Look for a dot on the cylinder head. The dot signifies that the cylinder head is of the newer design.
