Air/Fuel mix screw on GT125R (mikuni BDS26 carb)
« on: February 21, 2011, 12:00:54 PM »

Hi everyone

Sorry if this has been asked somewhere before but couldn't find it! Have checked the Carburetor 101 thread and didn't see any mention of it either.

Where is the screw to adjust the air/fuel mix on the mikuni BDS26 carb? I'm having problems with my engine stalling at low revs, I'm hoping that this could just mean it's running slightly lean and can be corrected without taking the carb apart. I'm new to riding so just trying to get the basics figured out!

Thanks  :)

They're fairly easy to find, but if you're new to bikes I'd not be messing with them...

Hi guys I think I've found them on a diagram http://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?p=1290646

Is it correct that there are two I need to adjust (one on each carb)? And should I adjust them the same? (The diagram only shows one but there is an identical screw on the other "chamber").

Appreciate the cautionary advice, but unfortunately it doesn't really run at the moment and Moto Union wanted 300 quid to jet it which I can't afford. I'm just desparate to get it rideable!

Yeah I have the workshop manual for the GT125R and GT125 but they don't go into any detail really.

But I've read a few articles about re-jetting so I might have to give that a go myself if the air screw doesn't fix things.

Yeah they quoted 6-8 hours labour and I think 70 for the kit, which I thought was a bit of a joke tbh. Hence ending up trying to figure some stuff out myself. I've already payed out 400 for a service and the bike still doesn't even run properly, so not very happy at the moment!  :o

:o yeh, not good shooter, did you talk to the shop about this? find another shop mate! try to find a local specialist tuner/custom shop,or mechanic. so you,ve checked all the hoses, air filter, for sealing? if you have set the idle screws to spec. and still have the prob, gotta be something else.best to go over everything, logically and methodically, step by step, process of elimination. mbe blockage in the idle jets-swap out, fuel float etc. mbe pull carbs apart jets out, clean, check float. good luck. ;) ;)

Right, loosened what I thought were the fuel mix screws today and petrol started pissing out the bottom of the bike. So I guess I got the wrong screws. I've looked at the diagram again and still can't really understand it. It looks like the diagram is not the right way up or something. Does anyone have a photo showing the fuel mix screw? Or can you describe how to find them? Thanks

Pretty sure your looking at the wrong picture.

That one looks nothing like the diagram in the GT125/250 manual.
