I would question the mechanic first befor you adjust anything. He may admit wrong doing and do it agian.
I have looked through my books and cannot find anything on how many turns. Sorry about that but someone will post soon with an solution soon tho. ;D

hi i would usually start at 4 full turns out depending on mods on the bike, that should sort it if not go all the way in and count the turns out until it splutters and cuts out then half that you should be able to hear when it is happy, as for the smoke has he by chance ran a compression check and then put oil straight in the cylinder to check the compression again for ring damage? if so it may just be burning off the excess oil he added

what does it smell like? id check if fuel is getting into your oil perhaps, is potentially your slide sticking and not opening? its a very high chance its too much fuel getting in/not enough air is that plug black?
