Transmission oil, Rally?
« on: June 19, 2014, 08:16:28 AM »

Can anyone tell me if it's safe to use a 5W-40 oil in the transmission on my 2006 SF50 Rally, instead of the 10W-30 or -40 which is recommended in the service manual? I'm asking because I happen to have 2 litres of a good quality synthetic oil(Statoil) just sitting there, and I hoped I maybe could use it on my Rally? I dont have to hear how the different oil work and what the SAE numbers mean, I know, I just wonder if it's safe? Maybe someone have done it theirselves?

Anyone who knows out there?  :-\ This also refers to all SF50 engines, I think.

Should be fine.

I'd drop in a glug of gear oil as well if you have any, but should be fine without. 5w40 spans over 10w30, and full synthetic is always good too.
