Morini - Minarelli intake similarities?
« on: June 19, 2014, 08:55:43 PM »

As far as I can understand, on my 2006 SF50 Rally, the only difference on the intake between my Morini engine and a Minarelli ,(dont know exactly which), is one of the bolts position. The reed actually seems to also fit the Minarelli because of a extra hole. So, if I drill a hole myself, can I use the Minarelli intakes? Anyone who knows? I just ask because it seems to me that Minarelli intakes are easier to buy online, at least here in Norway...

Automartin,

You sound like you know what you're doing.

I've never heard anyone hear say anything even half as intelligent sounding as you just did.

On that fine tradition, I will add that in my experience fettuccine tastes better with tomato based sauces than ravioli, but ravioli is awesome with cream based sauces.

Hi Automartin,

I'd need to know which reed block your buying, I think the Minarelli (vertical) looks close to a quick google of a Morini block. I have 3 Minarelli engines and the reeds are identical on the Horizontals (50cc - 100cc) however its different on the vertical. This could purely be stock versus performance blocks.

Without a pic of which block your buying I couldn't say for sure.

I'm pretty sure that those horizontal engines from Minarelli are much similar to my Morini engine....I will post a update when I have bought a reed to test this  :)

I was wrong! The Morini, at least at my SF50 Rally from 2006, is NOT similar to the Minarelli. Because, not only is it the one bolt which is a bit off on my Morini, all holes are actually mirrored relative to the Minarelli. And it took quite some time before I realized this, making it a bit tricky finding a new and bigger inlet manifold! No one seems to have a manifold that fits my motor! And no one seems to know that the holes are mirrored relative to the Minarelli ones, and some sellers try to sell me a Minarelli one saying it will fit( if only drilling one extra hole). Can anyone out there tell me if this is only my 2006 model which has this "mirrored holes" issue, or is it the same on earlier and later models of SF50 Rally? Is there anyone who knows where I can buy an aftermarket bigger manifold?? Arrghhhh!!!.......

Do you have a photo of your original block and the one you bought? As I've said, I can soon check if they fit I have both vertical and horizontal minarelli engines.

You could always send me the dimensions and I can check those too.

You can upload the photos to an image hosting service such as tinypic.com which will give you the address you need to use in the "insert image" on this forum.

If that doesn't work I will send you a PM with an email address.
