2016 GT650R
« on: July 04, 2015, 07:02:47 PM »

So, the flagship of the brand, something is cooking for next year, a few articles state that it is not clear if it's an entirely new model or just an update or different variation, while more articles state that it is going to have a new frame, a new smoother, more powerful and more reliable engine. No wonder why they kept selling us the same bike for 2013-14-15, seems though they decided to change it and just give us "filler episodes" for the time being. I need to rack up the kilometers on mine to say to myself that this is a well payed enjoyment that I wouldn't have had had I waited for the new model  ;D

I'd say it is going to be a new model. Based on seeing the dealer catalog and it had the GT650X, once as the X, and on another page as the GT650 "new shape".

What do you guys reckon?

I hadn't seen this - looks like an interesting facelift, and maybe a bit lighter with that new frame?

Not a great fan of plastic bits for the sake of it, I'd rather see the new frame instead of having the bits each side of the radiator, and if the naked is to have a belly pan, I like the 'grey' option matching the frame rather than body colour.....

Well the articles have no clue of what are the possible updates, the reason I'm guessing this is the bike is because I saw it at a catalog at the dealer. This bike is a concept from 2008 (for those of you who don't know). The frame is most probably lighter as we'd all guess from the looks of it. I'm not that fond of the tail section, but I like the looks of the seat, seems to have more consideration for us shorties. And no more threads of "would a 180 tire fit" since it comes stock with a 180 rear. Though I just thought of it, I'm afraid we'll have a "will a 190/200 rear tire fit"!!

The belly pan seems to be colored after the frame, the red one has a red frame already so there's not much they could do there unless they made it black.

I'm already interested in the GD400R, my worry is, I'd want this new GTR as well! Hyosung should endorse me if I have four of their bikes.  :P

Looks to me that the only thing different is the frame, same motor, brakes from the pre 2013 model, old rear end styling, plastic cover on swing arm to make it look reinforced, still the same swing arm, but it still catches the eye.

http://korider.com/index.php?topic=11685.0 be surprised if it ever gets built, remember the rx450sm http://korider.com/index.php?topic=5948.0 never happened either.

True, and I was never expecting it to be made either, but the news of a new 650 along with seeing it in the catalog Hyosung sent our dealer labeled under (GT650 "new shape") made me think this way.

The rx450sm was in the catalog as well! But, I didn't see anyone mentioning anything about a supermoto in the articles I've posted in the topic in the General forum.

Just picked up my bike today from the dealer and asked the salesman about the 2016 GTR, he said that when he contacted Hyosung they told him that it's the same model and that they change every four years, so maybe they will showcase the 2017 models in EICMA this year and not 2016, quite strange as the news of a new model next year came from the Hyosung general manager in the UK.

Guess we'll find out in about 20 days.

That fairing under the motor spoils it.

So does the fairing "gt650x labelled, but not so much. If it was less bulbous it would be better. I think the front mud guard mount is a bit too  large also.
