What happens if you just plug the stock speedo signal into the dash?

The stock waveform will be a LOT higher resolution than what that kit provides.

I'm not sure. I'd assume at best it would read way high as the stock on has multiple pulses per revolution.

The speedo seems very responsive.  At 30mph the magnet is going past the pickup about 7 times a second so it should be sufficient.

Can the dash not be tuned in this regard?

How is the dash adjusted for different outside tyre diameters?

It is adjustable by mm increments for tire circumference but since its designed to be used with the included sensor its not adjustable for pulses per revolution. Although I suppose, depending on how many pulses the stock one put out, the size could be fudged to trick it.  I'm not sure how low the adjustment can go. But that is a possibility

So the only real issue I have with the whole setup is the indicator lights are pretty much impossible to see in sunlight. I think some LEDs will be in order.

I didn't realize the kit came with led bulbs. I replaced the incandescent with the LEDs and now I can see them in the daytime!

I'm not sure why they bother with the incandescents.  I guess if the circuit the are in has no other resistor the led could get overpowered. Not an issue with mine.
