Can i fit it to my bike?
« on: October 25, 2016, 11:51:37 AM »

Hello guys, i would like to ask again.
I have a 2004 GT250, and i would like to fit a passenger handhold.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/06-07-08-HYOSUNG-250-GT250R-GT-250-REAR-PASSENGER-SEAT-GRAP-RAIL-HANDLE-/172252354208?hash=item281b0a56a0:g:8tMAAOSwzJ5XbTw1&vxp=mtr

They are advertising this one for the 06,07,08. But i hope i will be able to fit it for the 2004 GT. What is your opinion?

It will bolt up. BUT! I have tried to use 04/05 rear seats on newer bike and for some reason the seat hits that railing some how. I have several seats so I just changed seats to make it easier. I didn't pursue the issue to fix it.
But I believe it can work with a little extra muscle.
How about a newer set?
That seems alit high on the price.

Now that I think about it I think I has to trim the fairings a little as well.

Soo should i get a newer seat too?
I think i will go to the local shop that is selling used parts, i hope they will have both of them.

Thanks!

I have that rail going spare if you in the UK. You can have it dirt cheap, its only laying around.

Firstly you need to see which mounts you have under the rear seat, does it like like this:
3x Mounting holes (older gen up to 2010)

2x Mounting holes (2010 onwards)

or like this, with none (my GT):

Although you can mount it using two, those were for the "batwing" grab rails.

I'm pretty sure the GTR pillion seat is recessed slightly to allow for the grab rail under it but I never had a GT pillion seat to 100% confirm, maybe you can albertinhouston?

If you can wait a day I can try the grab 2015 grab rail on  a spare 05 frame.
The 07 I'm building has 3 mounting holes as well
I've never noticed the 2 hole design. I probably just didn't pay attention.

Just as I suspected. You can convert it if you really really want it.

You will need to weld a bracket to the head stock if you want to fit the front fairings and will need to decide if you want to fit the grab rail (see above). That's the short answer.
