Hey Plantpot - welcome, I'm 63 and in Scotland, so nearer in age, but can't help with the Aussie market.  I enjoy my GT650 a lot......April to October, when there is a chance of some dry, even sunny, weather here!!! 8)

I think it's true that most Hyo dealers anywhere are selling 'old stock', and there is one recent post on here of someone buying a new bike which has been in a crate for a couple of years.  It's not necessarily a problem with the bikes, but they are fairly badly marketed through smaller, multi manufacturer dealerships...... certainly here in UK they are often sold beside various Chinese 125's and scooters, to the extent that many folk think they are a Chinese brand.

Ignoring all that, I'm sure you'll enjoy that bike!! ;)

They're still about not as popular as they once were, mainly I believe because they forced the big manufacturers to take the LAMS market seriously...

And when they did, hyo's weren't cheap enough.

Yes, there are unrestricted models but now they only market the restricted LAMS versions.
You need to do the derestriction yourself and don't tell anyone because a bikes registration can be changed from LAMs to NON-LAMs but can never be changed back.
