Legal Tail-tidy / Fender Eliminator - Australia
« on: April 18, 2017, 07:38:59 AM »

Pretty self explanatory title.

I live in Australia, we have strict laws on angle of license plate etc etc.
Wondering if any of you blokes or lovely ladies know of a legal fender eliminator for the GT650R. This big plastic mess at the back is the only thing I don't like about my bike.

[EDIT] - This is for a 2007 model.

Cheers.

Hey mate, I looked this up for myself not long ago. Most of them are fine as long as you mount it so that the number plate is clearly visible from 25m and the blinkers are 26cm apart. Im not sure if thats measured from the midcentre of them or what but mine on my old bike were 24cm apart on the outside so I guess theres a bit of leniency. This is for nsw and vic.

Edit: It's actually 20m at 45 in every direction. And I didnt really answer your question but the answer is pretty much any will do because after you cut the plastic off the back you decide where to mount it under the bike. I believe bikebiz sells one.

not sure about the older models, but I do know with the 2012 (my bike) and other around that generation can simply have the rear plastic fender removed which actually leaves with steel mounting bracket that works amazing on it's own as a fender eliminator. So if you have a power drill, your bike might already have a fender eliminator built into it.

however, you will get this somewhat bug eye looking effect simply because the metal isn't 100% straight and that angle gives it that look- haven't really thought about a fix on that yet
sorry for low quality.
