Snapped the chain?

Snapped the chain?

I was wondering the same thing, or the sprocket wasnt torqued and locking washer in place (even though its flimsy steel). I'd expect to see some marks around the shaft and casing if this happened.

Didn't snap the chain. Chain never came off.
The front sprocket nut was gone when I pulled over.
The bearing inside the engine had blown apart and the ball bearings inside had blown out the side of the case.

not sure what the main cause was but very weird that the sprocket nut was missing

Pics of where ball bearing has made it's mark.
Small piece is motor housing.
The other one was the center of the bearing I think. Or a spacer. It blew out and pushed the front sprocket off the shaft I think.

'tis fuqed.

You would need a new crank case and output shaft. ..not worth the aggravation. Your decision to fit a new (2nd hand) engine was the much better option.
