GTR250 2008 , engine switch off on 2000rpm
« on: August 12, 2017, 01:19:16 PM »

Hello Every One.
I'm new on this forum. I would like to say that I'm happy owner of GTR250 EFI 2008 which I bought in March this year. Till now bike was amazing I did service month ago- exchange oil and filter for K&N. Two days ago something happened with bike at 3000rpm on cold engine it starts choke it self, so I pushed to 4000rpm the engine and later was ok. Yesterday at morning bike run smoothly no issue, at 4 pm after work it didn't want start at all.... I pushed it then it start from 2nd gear, I could ride for a while but when I let rpm drop to 2000 bike just choke and switch off, I tried to jump start from car (switched off engine in car) bike start but at 2000rpm switch off again, I tried few times, next times I had to keep it 3500rpm for 2 min to warm up and recharge battery did 300m ride after, then stop on the side of road let rpm drop to 2000 and bike is dead again and can't start it self. Maybe some one have idea what can be reason of such imedielity change in bike.

i see an aftermarket exhaust..... & You added a K&N airfilter..... this will make it run leaner then before.

If the lamda sensor is not working correctly, you may have run it super lean and burnt your valves. This would give the symptoms you have.

I'm not the mechanic but I can change Lambda sensor my self ... its really difficult to get one on market.. do you think I could use from 650gtr? or from any other motorbike model? For gtr250 cost 100$ almost ...

Maybe cleaning will help ? Unplug sensor, clean it from dust etc?

How sure are you that the battery is charging? Could the reg/rec have failed and not be charging the battery?

..else could the battery have simply died? It happens.

On second thought, if the battery alone had died, the reg/rec would still run the bike, it just wouldn't kick over the starter motor. If it is electrical, then it's the reg/rec.

Unplug the battery from everything and bolt all the + connections together and all the - connections together and try a jump from a car.
