Compression for '04 Alpha 250
« on: September 04, 2017, 01:43:26 PM »

I'm getting a reading of 130 to 135psi for both cylinders. The book says it should be around 170, yet a previous post on this forum said 120 or higher is good. I have a carb (non efi) alphasports gv250, 2004. All I did was pull the plugs, put the gauge in there, and turn it over about 5 times or so. The cylinders max out at about 130 to 135psi. Will these readings work? Thanks.

It's a 13 year old bike.. 135psi will do. The alternative is an engine rebuild.

The actual question is, are you checking the compression because its not running? Agree with umop-ǝpisdn, 135psi for a 13 year old bike is good (unless its mileage is really low).
