Brake light
« on: October 14, 2017, 10:39:35 AM »

Hi,

Just got a GV250 its my 1st bike. I noticed when I press the brake pedal no brake light comes on but does when I squeeze the front brake. Is this normal or is the brake light supposed to come on with the brake pedal?

Thanks

Hi mate, it is definitely supposed to come on with the rear brake applied. I suggest tracing the wire from the rear brake pedal(which is going to be a pain in the ass because it is buried in the main wiring harness) and looking for any splits, melted bits or a total breakage of the wire. If that is the case it is then easy enough to just replace that wire.

It could also be the negative/ground wire coming out of the brake light, so make sure to check both wires.

Thanks. Got this sorted, was the switch that connects to the spring on the brake pedal. Just needed adjusting. All good now.
