GT650 Vs GT650R
« on: February 14, 2018, 02:12:49 AM »

Lets open a can of worms  ;D
After riding the 2 bikes , I can honestly say the GT wins hands down for me .
The GTR is probably a bit more nimble through the twisties but the comfort of the riding position on the GT does it for me .
The only difference I can see between them is shorter forks , different handle bar set up , fairings , oh and that stupid light on the GTR  ;D
If one of them has to go , it WILL be the GTR although I could probably get used to it and end up keeping it anyway  ;D

I've done the head down, arse up bit for years. However, it is way more comfy in the more upright position imo - hence getting the GV.
I still want a GT650R for when I may be in lunatic mode though... ;)

The forks are the same on both models.

Only the bar, fairings, and speedo/lights change mechanically they are the same bike.

You are in fact right  :o
I have both bikes stood side by side and the GTR forks look about a foot shorter (optical illusion) but just measured them and they are the same .
Strange  ;D

Yep the GTR is just the GT in a party dress.

That's why the pre 2010 ones look odd. They just added a pointy fairing to a curvy bike
