Why did you buy a Hyo?
« on: February 18, 2018, 08:37:36 PM »

For me it was simple.
I was in the market for a cruiser as I'd had enough of head down arse up and riding like a lunatic.
It was the look of the GV650 that attracted me to it, the price was just a bonus.
Hyo made a good call on this, a real nice looker / design as cruisers go imo.

Why did you get your Hyo?

My first one I was on a tight budget, it was either a GT250R or a UM Xtreet 230cc Chinese thing, then pops out a GT650 that I was too late to buy, the guy that bought it had to leave the country three months after his purchase so I was very lucky there! Got it for a great deal. I was looking very hard though for an older 400-600cc Honda CBR/VFR/RVF but those don't exist here apparently (aside from a few 99 CBR600F's, but didn't find any), I was very happy that I didn't end up with the 250R as the 650 was perfect for me, easy going but with good enough power.

The GT650R I got new, I wanted a new bike, but didn't want to go to a 600 since the 650 was already plenty fast. CBR500R isn't available, so it was either the Ninja 650 or the Hyosung 650, the Hyo looked better, but the Ninja was better quality, however, it didn't have ABS and it was about $2,200 more expensive, yes it was better quality, but it wasn't ZX6R quality! So, went with the Hyo and I'm very happy with my purchase, it also sounds much better than the parallel and the color I have is rare, heck even the facelift is actually rare since the dealer only got 6 GTR's in 2014 and that's it.

You are absolutely right, those Koreans sure know how to design a great looking bike!

I love the colour scheme of your GT650R mate. One of the nicest imo.

Thanks! When it first came out in 2013 I drooled over it and hoped I'd get it some day, and Hyosung used to change the colors/stickers yearly so I was hoping somehow they don't this time and they actually didn't! And who knew, I ended up getting one! The choice was also easy as the dealer didn't get any all red ones, those look nice too.

All of the aforementioned reasons.

Cheap, LAMS (Australian licensing model thing), looks amazing, could afford it.

The LAMS thing is a bit of a joke considering how easy it is to bypass it .

All they have to do is cover their arses in a legal situation. For a learner messing with their throttle stop, their funeral is their own to arrange.
