Cold start idle miss/clunk.

Sorry about the fb link, but the vid quality is good.
This clunk is my next mission. Does it from a cold idle till warm up. Doesn't seem to do it when riding. Hasn't done it on hot start yet. Going to start chasing the sensors tonight, see what comes of it. Any insight would be great, cheers.

Maybe check obvious things first like a loose stator, or clutch basket.
Deffo doesn't sound good at all tbh.

Does anyone else have any ideas on this?
Oddly enough, a guy at work who has one is exhibiting the same sound.
It's quite odd, not really a rattle, more a "slight" knock and it's not consistent, kind of intermittent.
Sounds exactly the same as this and his bike has only done 6000 miles.

Hey Sid, nothing definite, but going through the sensors one at a time has me stoped at the TOS. Disconnected it and it has gone away. Maybe a coincidence. I'll let it sit for a couple of days and try it again. I'll report back.

Yes, please do buddy. Always good to know the outcome.
Hopefully others will chime in as well.. ;)

Well, it wasn't the TOS. I'll keep digging.

That knock/clunk sounds more severe than what mine did, tho mine was a little different issue.
Mine would idle fine from cold start till its hot (thermo fan kicking in hot), then the idle would miss and kinda sound like a lighter version of your knock/clunk. When i changed coil pack mine was sweet.
Not saying this is your issue, just how mine was similar.

Really need to put it on a Hyo Diag Tool, you can graph rpms and such, and see what thats doing. Might give you more of an idea, but if mechanical i'd be looking at cam tensioner.

I like Sid's earlier suggestion of a loose clutch basket nut.

I'll get the cover off and have  a look. I'm  thinking electrical because the rpm drops momentarily on the knock. Like the rattle it makes on shut down, just not so pronounced. It started as a light miss without the clunk and evolved into this.

I hope not, but perhaps we are looking at two issues.

A miss caused by a coil or some other stupid electrical part and a knock that happens when the bike misses. i.e. a loose clutch basket that has momentum and thunks when asked to suddenly slow down.
