All carby era magnetos will work.

I have a spare one for a GT125. It's a thinner unit and takes less power to run, which means you'll get more speeeeeed.

Long story short I bought an 04 naked carby with a seized engine.  Bought a 2014 EFI 250R engine and put that in the carby bike after switching the carbs over  I then switched the EFI magneto out with the one from the carby engine including the stator and this thing still won't start.

Check the wiring for the pick-up coil.

Coming out of the motor on the magneto side there are 5 wires. Three are the yellow stator wires and the other two are for the pick-up coil. One is blue and the other green. Make sure that they are connected to the right connector. The connector for the pick-up coil is the exact same type as the connector that charges your loom. Check that the blue/green connector is connected to blue/green on the wiring loom side and not switched around with the Brown/Black connector that is for charging the loom.
