bodywork mounting bolt info
« on: August 04, 2018, 04:54:32 PM »

Greetings-

The MRX650 bodywork bolts/screws seem to be rather unique.  After some trial and error I figured out that they were 12/24 size machine screws with what is known as a truss head.  The closest option I found was on amazon as "18-8 Stainless Steel Machine Screw, Plain Finish, Truss Head, Phillips Drive, Meets ASME B18.6.3, 3/4" Length, Fully Threaded, 12-24 UNC Threads (Pack of 25) "

link was  "https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00918CQPE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

The problem is these are stainless and the fisher mrx appear to be a blacked brass.  Obviously I could spray paint them with a medium gloss black but if anyone can provide info on where to find the originals it would be much appreciated.

Note:  I already tried reaching out to Dan Fisher but he says he doesnt have any available.
2nd Note:  I ordered a set of the above and they work fine for the longer bolts (such as the bottom of the lower fairings) but for places like the gas tank pieces the bolts are a bit long.  You can cut off the ends a bit to make them fit or maybe order 1 set of bolts at 3/4 inch and 1 set @ 1/2 inch.

Do you not have any fastener companies around you? Take a few in and let them do all the leg work for you  :)
