When i had my Hyo as much as i liked riding that bike, i never truly had confidence that something wouldn't go wrong on it.
It always concerned me and made me worry, and the one time i didn't worry it did let me down.

That said when i moved onto the XVS650, apart from not having the sheer power of the Hyo, the comfort and reliability of it i have never questioned or thought about. Its just going awesome and i haven't done anything that i had to do on the Hyo to it.

Funny you mention that mate. I've been having a bit of a look at the XVS650 - great reviews and a nice looking bike. One that may be on my radar.
I hate floor boards though and the toe & heel change, I assume you can convert to pegs?

What coils are in your bike mate?

I'm not sure buddy - I'd need to take a look.
I can order them from Korea for about 25 each?
Tbh, I may just change the coils & chain tensioners, but that's it.
Any other issues and it will be down the road in px for something else.

Shame - as I really like the look of the GV and it gets a lot of admiring comments.

I saw mention that your bike has a mitsu ecu. I figured it would have the older coils as well. ...they're prone to fail.

What about the reg/rec?

One of the first things I did, even though the original was still ok.
I replaced it for a mosfet and made sure all the plugs / terminals were ok, then coated them in dielectric grease.

..then it's unlikely to be a flat battery.

c24 from memory means the front ignition coil out of spec.

Yeh,

I'm going to check the connections at the w/e.
It may be something simple.
I am edging toward an XVS650 now though tbh.
I'll see how it goes....Seen some really tidy low milers today for less than 4k - and these are known to be pretty bulletproof / reliable.

I know it's hard to believe, but there is a reliable bike to be had in the Hyo.

The two big failures are the reg/rec and the coils.

You've fixed the reg/rec. You're about 150 off having a reliable ride.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Dyna-12-Volt-5-Ohm-Single-Fire-Coil-for-Harley-Davidson-motorcycles-by-V-Twin/391692882931?fits=Model%3ADyna&epid=736089642&hash=item5b32b713f3:g:6dUAAOSw-0xYkw90

A pair of Dynatek DC10-1 coils. Not OEM. Don't do that to yourself. They will need some convincing to fit as they're approx double the size of the OEMs. Nothing you can't handle though.

You added the earth wire from the battery to the chassis when you did your reg/rec upgrade, yes?

Have you done the silver pill fix for the rear brake master cylinder? Simple stuff. You undo a bolt, you pop a spring in and you re-tighten the bolt. You will need to bleed the rear brake, but also a simple job. The spring is a CS612. They cost less than a coffee.

Done the earth but not the brakes buddy.
I will look into the coils though.....I was going to replace them anyway, so may as well go for better ones.

Well,

Decided it's going.
New bike being delivered on Friday morning...... :)
Just can't be doing with the constant piddling around and wondering if it'll leave me stranded.

I'll post up the new one when it arrives.
This is my first and last foray into Hyo's - never again.
Shame, as they are kinda nice bikes in a way, but let down by shite electrics - and Hyo have had enough time to sort it. They obviously don't give a toss.

I will stay on here though, some nice people......
