Shame, I like my ST7, but, once you've decided a bike has to go, you never really change your mind !!

Funny you mention that mate. I've been having a bit of a look at the XVS650 - great reviews and a nice looking bike. One that may be on my radar.
I hate floor boards though and the toe & heel change, I assume you can convert to pegs?

Totally missed this question.
Looks wise they are fantastic, there is a couple of differences between the custom and classic versions tho.
Classic looks like the original cruiser with big guards, smaller wheels and large tyres (also makes good comfort), floorboards etc...
Custom has much smaller guards, same rear wheel but larger front wheel, also has pegs than boards.

The pegs / boards can be swapped over as well as the gear shifter.
What i will say tho, i didn't like the look of the floorboards, but now that i've had them on and used it for a while i like it. tho the heel toe shifter has to go, thats annoying, but i have another heel toe that i will just cut the heel off.

Fit a good exhaust and a decent intake (pods or barons intake) and it really opens the bike up to something a bit more satisfying.

Apart from oil change i haven't had to do anything to it, been reliable as hell and put a few thousand k's on it already. I ride it every chance i get and cant wait for summer.

What bike did you go for in the end ???

Also mine is techncially a XVS400 Dragstar converted to XVS650.
They exact same engines just different bore/stroke.
Also on the 400 i have a few other things that the 650's don't, such as electric speedometer (easier to recalibrate if you ever need too) and a fuel gauge.

Also worked out that i removed the 400 rear shock, put the 650 in and it sat way too high, was uncomfortable too, got a 1 inch lowering mount for the rear shock, and it lowered the rear by 1.5" roughly.
Sits and rides soooo comfy now.

I still want to get myself a GV650 donk and fit a SV1000 motor in it. That be the bee's knee's but i dont know if the frame will like it.

Pity to hear that it let you down yet again.

What’s the new bike going to be??

If you do lots of highway miles like i do, the 650 will do it and can do say a buck 30, but you'd be better off with a xvs1100 which is the same thing just double the motor.

That is a good looking piece of kit. The straight pipes oughta make a few Harleys blush too.
