sv650 vs GT650 Parts Compatibility
« on: November 30, 2005, 05:28:10 AM »

Check out this link.  A guy in WA wrecked his GT650 so he and his brother compared the parts on the GT with his brothers SV.  Interesting findings...

I figured that it being a suzuki derivative it would have the same carbies and I'd be able to mount them in the SV bracket and put them in....turns out the GT is a lot closer to the SV than that. I was able to mount the carbies straight in to the SV!!!! Doesnt the engine look remarkably similar to the SV?!! Id say identical!

The sv650 fired up with the GT650 carbs mounted!

More info about air filter compatibility...

Airbox is definately larger in volume but the intake hole is slightly smaller meaning that it wont accept an SV aftermarket filter...well..kinda...i put my spare BMC filter into his bike at the track and strapped it in with gaffa tape but it ran too lean and so i put the stock one back in.

We contacted K&N a last week about moulding an air filter for the HYOSUNGS since our findings were the same. If you hold the two filters side by side they look identical, but the bolt holes are off and the size is a little different. We sent K&N a stock filter to copy for correct sizing,  I should have a date in the next few weeks on when they will be availible for purchase.

Good deal.  Makes me wonder if we will ever see a lawsuit if these bikes get more popular. 8O  Hope not.  I'm sure they have thought of that.  Probably the reason these small differences exist.
