Have you tried doing it before? I hadn't, except in cars, until the other night. Did it in second, going down my gently sloping driveway. The engine slowly turned for a moment when I released the clutch, and the engine fired right up.

I'd imagine gearing up or down in high RPMs, even when rev-matching, would be more damaging/wear-and-tear on the trannie than a push start.

Anyone else with an opinion on that??

Ditto... esp when you first start riding and accidentally go down to 1st for a corner instead of 2nd and get lockup, sloppy/ rough gear changes etc.
